There are hundreds of tiles with cryptic messages on them fixed to the pavement in many major cities in the United States and South America. In December of 2016, I decided to study the typography on the tiles in the New York City area. I compiled photographs of several different tiles and created an interactive type specimen that examines the consistency of the hand-cut letterforms.
